For over 50 years, CETE, the Center on Education and Training for Employment, has
provided a range of services to support workforce development, career-technical
education and training, and lifelong learning in Ohio and across the United States.
In addition, CETE has a long history of involvement in the international arena,
with work of one kind or another performed on six of the seven continents (not Antarctica
yet, but we’re working on it). Currently, CETE’s strategic plan for international
initiatives includes three main activities.
IE-TVET. CETE is one of the founders of IE-TVET, a consortium for the International Export of Technical and Vocational Education and Training. IE-TVET’s mission is enhance to the ability of for-profit and not-for-profit U.S. TVET providers to secure TVET project contracts around the world, with the goal of sharing information and creating partnerships between U.S. and international providers of TVET products and services for the delivery of those products and services. CETE is active in IE-TVET’s opening environmental scan of financing sources, conferences, policy initiatives, and IE-TVET member capacity. For more information, visit www.ietvet.com
UNESCO-UNEVOC-U.S. CETE is the first and only U.S.-based member of the UNESCO-UNEVOC network, the key component of the UNESCO (United National Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) international TVET program. Consisting of 278 TVET centers in 166 UNESCO member states, the UNEVOC network collaborates to develop and improve TVET worldwide, especially in developing countries including BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China). CETE is currently working with UNEVOC’s International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Bonn, Germany, to identify and benchmark the highest-performing UNEVOC centers, learn about their expertise and success, and then update the strategic plan and scope for UNEVOC-U.S.
The Ohio State University. And here at home, CETE is actively engaged in conversations and partnerships within The Ohio State University to share networks and build relationships to expand outreach, research, and teaching for both OSU and CETE internationally.
Globally and locally, CETE continues to fulfill its mission to design and provide effective, quality products, services, and leadership that promote workforce development, embrace the need for lifelong learning, and provide avenues to address complex issues affecting individuals, families, schools, communities, and organizations.
