The career technical teacher education in-service program serves new career technical education teachers teaching in the Ohio Department of Youth Services and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction school districts. The program consists of licensure coursework offered through The Ohio State University College of Education and Human Ecology. Teachers enrolled in the program complete coursework along with on-site teaching observations to qualify for the Ohio Department of Education professional teaching license. The unique nature of the correctional teaching environment is addressed throughout program. The complete list of courses required for the program may be found at http://ehe.osu.edu/paes/wde/academics/certificates/tech-teacher.cfm
In addition to assisting new teachers with licensure requirements, the program provides professional development opportunities to other groups in the adult/correctional education area. Professional development assistance is available to mentor groups, entry-year teacher groups, adult education programs, and other entities seeking career technical licensure information and teaching expertise.
