Ohio Career Technical Competency Assessment (OCTCA)

Webxam-Image

CETE has been responsible for the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Ohio’s career-technical education (CTE) technical skill assessment system since 1993. The goal is to provide high quality assessments of CTE learning for individual credentialing, educational program improvement, and accountability. The tests measure mastery of knowledge associated with Ohio’s career-technical content standards - the Occupational Competency Analysis Profiles (OCAPs), Integrated Technical and Academic Competencies (ITACs), and Tech Prep Competency Profiles (TCPs). The current scope of work includes aligning the assessment items to Ohio’s new Career Field Technical Content Standards. The overall project involves implementation of training on the Webxam system; continuous assessment reviews and revisions; continuous improvement of the online testing system; and maintenance of a paper-pencil backup testing system. The statewide assessments are delivered primarily through Webxam - a secure web-based assessment delivery and reporting system created for use in educational and employment settings. Webxam is designed to handle the assessment delivery, data tracking, and reporting requirements of multi-tiered modular assessment systems as well as standard single-use examination administrations. Webxam was created by the Ohio State University’s Center on Education and Training for Employment.
